Lauren Wade, a sophomore anthropology major from Athens, looks to Connor Gillis, a senior anthropology major, as they lie inside sketches of bodies Thursday at Tate Plaza.

The drawings represent two of the 23 outlines which represent a person killed this year as a result of a hate crime. The event was for the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which honors transgender people who died because of their lifestyle.

Red and Black you never cease to amaze me. Your feature article supposedly about raising awareness for transgender violence features a very solemn student within the chalk out line smiling ear to ear. (Continued…)

I am NOT an anthropology major! I'm in sociology. And also, that was a poor picture choice. I laid there for SOOO long trying to get people's attention and you publish the picture where I'm talking to connor. (Continued…)
