John Hill of the University chapter of Georgia's National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) proposed new legislation to decriminalize marijuana at the Athens City Council meeting Tuesday night. The group collected more than 2,000 signatures in favor of the proposed legislation, which the University chapter presented at the meeting.

I don't trust NORML any more than I trust the tobacco industry. Brain researchers keep finding marijuana to be more harmful than anyone thought. See for example:

Using marijuana is a victimless crime. Governments are not created to be babysitters or moral police. People should be allowed to do whatever they want to do as long as it does not infringe on other people's rights and their pursuit of happiness. (Continued…)

I applaud John Hill for his efforts. The issue with NORML is the reformation of laws regarding marijuana use, not whether or not it is harmful. Yes, of course inhaling raw plant smoke is harmful but less so than many other perfectly legal activities you can pursue. (Continued…)

Alcohol is proven to be more and more lethal then marijuana, yet i don't see anyone complaining about the use of alcohol. marijuana has been proven to help, do some research. (Continued…)
