Georgia gymnastics team to debut Dog Walk
Issue date: 12/31/08 Section: Sports
The Georgia gymnastics team, which has a program steeped in tradition, is about to add another one.
The 2009 Gym Dogs will have their own version of the Dog Walk prior to each home meet this season. The doors to Stegeman Coliseum will open two hours and 15 minutes before the meet, and the Dog Walk will take place two hours before the meet.
"We are looking forward to having the Dog Walk this season," Georgia coach Suzanne Yoculan said. "Our fans are such a pivotal part of our team's success, and this is a way for us to get even closer to them."
The Gym Dogs will emerge from the tunnel connecting Stegeman Coliseum and the Coliseum Training Facility at Section W near the videoboard. The Gym Dogs will greet fans along the walkway between the upper and lower decks.
The Gym Dogs also have two post-meet autograph sessions planned for this season. Following the Utah meet, all fans will be able to get one item signed by the Gym Dogs. After the Florida meet, children ages 13-and-under will have the same opportunity. The autograph sessions will take place in the hospitality room under the videoboard.
