John Jancek isn't going anywhere.
Georgia's linebackers coach was interviewed and offered the defensive coordinator position at South Florida over the weekend. He declined, and the Bulldogs rewarded him Tuesday, adding the defensive co-coordinator title to his resume.
"Willie Martinez is our defensive coordinator and as co-coordinator, John has been and will continue to be instrumental in our game planning on the defensive side of the ball," head coach Mark Richt said in a release.
Jancek came to Athens from Central Michigan in 2005, and has helped lead a Bulldog defense that typically finishes among the nation's best, though embattled during the 2008 season. Details of a potential pay increase were not included in the release, although Richt has said that most of his assistants would receive raises this offseason.
Jancek is the fourth Georgia assistant to interview for other jobs this offseason and the fourth to return. Recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner met with both Auburn and Tennessee but elected to remain on head coach Mark Richt's staff. Offensive line coach Stacey Searels turned down an Auburn offer, and added the running game coordinator title as well as a $54,600 raise. Wide receivers coach Tony Ball, then the running backs coach, interviewed with UT-Chattanooga.
