A newspaper reported Wednesday Georgia is willing to offer Jeff Capel, the men's basketball coach of the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners, $2 million per season to become its next basketball coach.

The Tulsa World reported Capel, a former Duke basketball player who has led the Sooners to a 26-3 record this season, was connected to South Carolina a year ago, but Oklahoma granted him a guaranteed $1.05 million per year through 2014 - with a bonus for staying with the Sooners of $100,000 per year due when the six-year deal expires.

Georgia fired Dennis Felton last month after the Bulldogs opened Southeastern Conference play at 0-5. Assistant Pete Herrmann was named interim coach.
