Despite a career high 29 points from Angel Robinson, Georgia fell in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament 69-61 to Vanderbilt Friday afternoon in Little Rock, Arkansas.
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs must wait more than a week to find out if they will play more basketball this season. Georgia (18-13, 8-8 SEC) is teetering on the NCAA bubble, and with only one victory in the tournament - over Kentucky Friday - the future is in doubt.
Robinson posted her 9th double-double of the season with 10 rebounds to go with her career high point total. She represented the only Georgia player in double figures, as Christy Marshall and Angela Puleo each tallied 9 points. Georgia's Ashley Houts once again played all 40 minutes of the game, but didn't have a basket until 2:07 left in the game when she hit a 3 pointer for her only points of the game.
Vanderbilt (22-8, 11-4) began the game by shooting lights out, connecting on 10 of its first 15 shots and building 14 point lead. But behind Robinson, the Lady Dogs were able to cut the lead down to 35-25 by halftime.
Georgia rode Robinson down the stretch in the second half, twice pulling to within one point, the final time at 62-61 with 1:27 left, but could not manage to tie or take the lead.
The Commodores were led by their All-SEC first team performer Christina Wirth who poured in 23 points. Meredith Marsh also proved to be a thorn in the Lady Bulldogs side by connecting on all four of her three pointers in the games final 12 minutes.
