Georgia redshirt freshman goalkeeper Ashley Baker was selected to join the England U-19 national team at the 10-Nation Tournament, which began Monday in La Manga, Spain.

Baker was in goal for England in the tournament opener Monday and helped England to a 1-0 win over Holland. England¹s next game will be Wednesday against Germany.

Baker, the only player on the squad who plays collegiate soccer in the United States, and the England squad will play three matches as teams from around the country prepare their youth squads for the 2010 World Cup tournaments.

"I'm very excited about the call up," Baker said. "It is going to be a great experience and will help me grow as a player. It is going to be a great chance to compete with countries I have never played against."

Baker did not play last season, using a redshirt year in order to join England at the 2008 U-20 World Cup competition in Chile. This spring, Baker rejoined the Bulldogs and played in the team's opening game of exhibition season against Florida State.
