Maybe it was the jet lag, or perhaps it was the bright lights of Las Vegas.
Whatever it was, something cooled the No. 1 ranked men's golf team - which had won their previous four tournaments. The Bulldogs couldn't seem to find their games in the opening round at the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate, struggling to their worst round of the year, 15-over-par 303, finishing 12th in that round. The Bulldogs climbed their way back, but it wasn't enough as they finished third in the tournament.
The final two days of the tournament were a far different story, though, as the Bulldogs stormed back up the leaderboard in the second and third round to finish in sole possession of 3rd place at 6-over-par, one place ahead of SEC rival Florida, with scores of 4-under-par and 5-under-par on the 7,500 yard layout of Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Senior Brian Harman seems to be returning to the exceptional form he displayed in his freshman and sophomore years, as the All-American recorded his second consecutive top 10 finish of the spring with an 8th place finish at 1-under-par 215.
All-American Adam Mitchell, who didn't start last weekend in Puerto Rico, returned to the lineup with a solid tied for 17th finish at 4-over-par 220.
The Bulldogs will be looking to get back to their winning ways Friday through Sunday in a home match of sorts, as they travel just up the road to Greensboro, Ga., for the Linger Longer Invitational, hosted by Reynolds Plantation.
