It's the only time when everyone - despite his background - becomes Irish for a day.

St. Patrick's Day is a national holiday for the Irish and a worldwide celebration for others. Today, the Irish and faux Paddies put on their shamrocks and clothe themselves in green to honor the patron saint of Ireland - or to get their Irish whiskey on.

Choose your own Irish adventure this St. Patrick's Day. Make your decisions about when and where to celebrate throughout the day and night. At the end of each section, you'll be faced with another decision. The path will eventually lead you to your very own pot of gold - or at least back home.

START: If you decide to begin the wearin' o' the green early, head over to the Daytime Events, but if you want to wait until the sun sets to start looking for your pot-o-gold, jump to Nighttime Events.

DAYTIME EVENTS:
Take a tour at the Terrapin Beer Company and brush up on your knowledge of what every Irish lad or lass should know about: award-winning beer. The tour is $25 and begins at 2 p.m. It will be followed by a reception and music.

NIGHTTIME EVENTS:
If you decide to paint the town green for the night, hop over to DRINKS, but if you want to relax and not worry about getting pinched by leprechauns, head to MELLOW.

MELLOW
If you want to find love in your green-colored attire, prance on over to GET LUCKY, but if you're more in the mood for some good ol' nocturnal Irish fun, swing on by to MUSIC. If you decide to head home and adopt an Irish custom by taking a stab at a traditional meal, visit redandblack.com to find our corned beef and cabbage recipe. If, however, you've already been drinking at the pubs all day, it's time to say goodnight to your fellow Paddies until next year.

GET LUCKY
UGA HEROs will be auctioning off beauty queens, athletes and others at the GEORGIA THEATRE starting at 8:30 p.m. There also will be prize drawings for gift cards and memorabilia.

If you and your date decide the night is still young, backtrack to NIGHTTIME EVENTS and choose a new path. Otherwise, it's time to head home - with or without your date.

MUSIC
THE GLOBE hosts Donner Party, a group made up of local musicians from Olympus Mans and Positraxion, among other bands. The band will perform Pogues songs as well as drinking and traditional songs. The party begins at 9 p.m. and is free to the public.

THE MELTING POINT presents Green Flag, an ensemble aimed at capturing traditional Irish music, and Short Road Home, a Celtic music band highlighting the music of Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the Appalachians. The show begins at 8 p.m. and costs $5 in advance and $8 at the door.

HARRY BISSETT'S BAYOU GRILL presents bagpiper David Gregory at 6 p.m. The show is free to the public.

If you're still looking to party it up Irish-style in the Classic City, jump over to DRINKS. If the show was enough to wear you out, it's time to head home and go to bed.

DRINKS
To be Irish for the night, you're going to have to drink like one, so grab your best pals and hop away to these local bars around town - just be wary of the paddywagons.

AMERICAN TAVERN will be providing traditional Irish food, music and special shooters to get their green on.

Join BARCODE, BROAD STREET BAR AND GRILL and NO WHERE BAR in their shamrock celebrations with drink specials and green beer blowouts. No Where Bar also will be presenting all-American rocker Justin Brogdon and his band for classic rock covers. The show begins at 10 p.m. and is free to the public.

If you haven't had too much to drink and are itching to check out some other entertainment, head over to MUSIC. If you've overloaded on the Guinness and Jameson, it's time to head home and sleep it off. After all, you have class tomorrow!
