Georgia students and faculty aren't the only ones who have been affected by Mother Nature recently.

The Georgia softball team (16-4, 1-0 SEC) also has experienced its fair share of inconvenience due to the unpredictable weather.

Beginning with the cancellation of the four-game NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., due to a weekend of rain that ended with a snowstorm, the Bulldogs spent the longest road trip of the 2009 season judging weather patterns rather than playing softball.

"It's out of our control and everyone across the country deals with it," head coach Lu Harris-Champer said. "But we deal with [it] … it's just a part of the game."

The Bulldogs returned home this past weekend, but were forced to cancel the final two games of a weekend series against LSU, after winning game one 6-5, due to rain.

Harris-Champer said the Bulldogs will try to reschedule the two games so they play a complete SEC schedule.

"Obviously, we want to play any games that we missed," Harris-Champer said, "but we don't want to force our players to miss any classes by rescheduling games."

Barring any unforeseen weather, the Bulldogs are scheduled to face Kennesaw State at 5 p.m. at the UGA Softball Complex.
