Spring practice generated excitement once again, but today's Pro Day figures to create quite a stir on campus.
Most of, if not all, 32 NFL teams are expected to be represented, with the chance to see 14 former Bulldogs workout.
The event is headlined by potential No. 1 pick Matthew Stafford, who throws at 12:15 p.m. Running back Knowshon Moreno also competes to solidify first-round draft status.
"Today will be one of the bigger Pro Day or senior days that we've had since we got here," said head coach Mark Richt.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with height and weight measurements. Players then run through lateral jumps, the bench press and the 40-yard dash.
"The fact that Matthew is doing it here is a big deal," Richt said. "It will attract a big crowd. Knowshon being here will attract a big crowd. Even if those guys weren't here we would still have a solid pro day, but I don't think there is any doubt by those two guys being here it's going to be a bigger crowd than we would normally get."
Wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, fullback Brannan Southerland and cornerback Asher Allen also compete, each projected to be taken in later rounds.
"It's always great to go out there and see those guys pretty much have an interview for the job of their dream," said running backs coach Bryan McClendon. "Guys that I've known for so long, like Mohamed or Brannan, I mean just all those guys. Guys I've been working with. Its great to see those guys actually get to that point. To know that they've matured as a player and as a person to be able to handle to is very important."
Richt instructed his players to take time to watch their former teammates.
"I think it's important for them to see, because I want them to motivated by it," he said. "I want them to get excited about it."
Who exactly will be in attendance is unknown, but today is projected to be the most attended Pro Day in Georgia history.
"I can't predict who's coming but I can only predict there's going to be a lot of big name coaches, head coaches, position coaches, GMs, just a great representation of the NFL coming to our campus," Richt said.

GRAMMER IS HARD

In addition to being a terrible and elementary grammar mistake, saying that "players state there case" is a terrible, terrible line for this story. The whole story is awkward and needs restructuring. (Continued…)
