Atlanta is trying to get the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported Friday the Atlanta Sports Council is talking to the University in trying to bring the annual football showdown between Georgia and Florida to the Georgia Dome once every four years.

The Bulldogs' four-year contract to play Florida in Jacksonville each year is set to expire next year.

Gary Stokan, president of the Atlanta Sports Council, told the Chronicle that in conversations with Georgia Athletic Director Damon Evans and Coach Mark Richt, "both of them expressed a high level of interest."

Evans said he continues "to evaluate the total picture" and that Georgia would "do at the end of the day what we think is best for us."

The game has been played annually since 1914 and held in the "neutral" city of Jacksonville since 1933 with the exception of 1994 and 1995.

FINALLY. The fact that this hasn't been considered sooner is a joke. Jacksonville, FL is and has never been a neutral site. Please make this happen!

Couldn't agree more with DawgTime! Jacksonville is fun, but still Gator Territory. Why this hasn't been realized sooner is beyond me.

The cocktail party is a great event with loads of tradition. Just because we have been on a losing trend down there is no excuse to change it. Altanta and the dome is a terrible college football venue anyway and in my opinion the rivaly would suffer because of it. (Continued…)

Ga Alum you are exactly right - the tradition among other things in Jacksonville is something that can not be replaced. It has been down there since the 1930's. (Continued…)

Yea because I would love tailgating in ATL DT which smells like urine and watch the game in some shitty dome. SSI GA-FL is a tradition unlike any other. (Continued…)

Jacksonville is a fine site for the game. It makes for a good weekend. Also, I encourage all you idiots to look into the history of the game a bit. We beat them more often than not in the 70s and 80s in Jacksonville. (Continued…)

I don't think the game should be moved. Who doesn't love going to Jacksonville every year to celebrate this time honored tradition? Even though the field is in Florida, it is not far from Georgia, and the fan count is usually equal from what I have witnessed. (Continued…)

I now live in Jacksonville but I am so glad to hear this! I have never thought this was at all fair for us Georgia fans. Why is a city an hour away from UF's campus considered neutral year after year? The least they could do is swap away/home years in Jacksonville and Atlanta. (Continued…)
