On his second score, Thomas took a toss sweep right, stiff-armed defensive end Justin Houston and then put a spin move on linebacker Marcus Washington to complete the score.
"I wasn't down there, but I heard the whole crowd go crazy," quarterback Joe Cox said. "I turned around and saw him running down the sideline, so I'm sure he did something pretty good."
Thomas was redshirted last year but is quickly making a name for himself in spring practice.
Injuries to Richard Samuel and Dontavius Jackson have left Thomas and Caleb King as the only backs on scholarship participating this spring.
"He's got a motor like no one I've ever seen," Cox said. "He's full speed in everything he does. I mean, he's tough."
Full speed and full pads: Georgia football worked out in full pads and at Sanford Stadium for the first time this spring.
The Bulldogs practiced for 90 minutes, in front of roughly 300 recruits and family in attendance for Georgia's Junior Day.
"It was pretty intense," said quarterback Joe Cox. "Actually we thought the whole day was going to be live, but [head] coach [Mark] Richt, on some drills, made us just full speed wrap-up, instead of going to the ground just because people ended up getting after it pretty good."
The players anticipated strapping on the pads and going full speed, and the practice didn't disappoint.
"It was awesome," said receiver Tavarres King. "It was high energy with everybody flying around the ball, making plays. We were just having a lot of fun out there."
Replacing Stafford: Cox has already established himself as Georgia's replacement for Matthew Stafford behind center.
But off the field, fullbacks Shaun Chapas and Fred Munzenmaier and wide receiver Kris Durham are looking for a roommate to replace Stafford.
One reporter suggested the group could turn the search into a reality show.
"That's what Fred said," Chapas said. "Fred was saying we should take applications, but only females … It would be better than the 'Rock of Love Bus.'"
