Senior pitcher Christie Hamilton notched her 12th win of the season after entering the game in the fourth inning, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four.
Freshman pitcher Erin Arevalo was only able to work one-third of an inning in relief of starting pitcher Sarah McCloud. Arevalo struggled with her command, allowing three earned runs and three walks while scattering two wild pitches.
The Georgia offense was able to pick up the slack thanks to sophomore second baseman Megan Wiggins' second inning grand slam as well as freshman catcher Tori Moody's first career home run.
Sophomore infielder Alisa Goler got the start at shortstop for the first time this season and drove in two more runs to move her within 13 RBIs of the Bulldog single season record - Kim Wendland racked up 65 RBIs in 2004.
Before the game, Goler was named a top 25 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, as announced by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA).
The award recognizes the best collegiate softball player in the country and is considered to be the most prestigious annual award given out every year.
"That's a great honor," Goler said, "It's nice to know you've been recognized … It's exciting."
Goler is second in the nation in slugging percentage (1.063) and RBIs per game (1.79) as well as fifth in the nation in home runs with 12.
"[I need to] make sure it doesn't get in my head. I was raised to be humble," Goler said, "[I will] keep it in the back of my mind though … it's still a team sport."
