Track faces rival Georgia Tech in dual meet

The track edition of "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" is going old school - how fitting.
That's because Georgia's track and field team is expecting a battle in their upcoming dual meet against Georgia Tech in Atlanta this evening.
"This is going to be an old-fashioned meet - it is just going to be us against them in a genuine head-to-head competition," head coach Wayne Norton said. "[Georgia Tech] is going to be as ready as they can be to beat us, so we are definitely going to have to be at our best."
The rival squads have not made it a habit of meeting annually during the last decade or so, as it had been in the more distant past.
Norton said he hopes that changes in the future.
"We are really trying to rekindle this meet between us - it is always intense and we take the rivalry very seriously, as do they," Norton said, who expects most of his athletes to compete against the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia has enjoyed early success so far this outdoor season, thanks in large part to javelin throwers Chris Hill and Michelle Thompson, as well as hammer thrower Nate Rolfe, each of whom head one of the nation's top throwing team.
After the Georgia Tech meet, both squads will travel to Auburn to compete in the Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday.
