A limited Georgia track and field squad competed at the Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday in Auburn, Ala.

Due to the meet against Georgia Tech on Thursday, many of the Bulldog athletes did not participate to get ready for a big upcoming weekend here in Athens. Georgia throwers made up the majority of the competing Bulldogs - finding their usual success.

On Friday, senior Nate Rolfe placed first in the hammer throw with a regional qualifying throw of 213 feet, 9 inches. The win marked his third first-place finish of the season and his fourth regional qualifying throw on the year. Senior John Freeman took second place behind Rolfe for the Bulldogs. Also winning her third meet of the season in the women's javelin was Michelle Thompson, coming in first after another regional qualifying throw of 154 feet, 1 inch.

Sophomore Rachel Travis' throw in the shot put (48 feet, 11.75 inches) moved her up to No. 5 on Georgia women's all-time list. Other Bulldogs that placed: juniors Emily Sanders (javelin), Israel Machovec (discus) and Tiffany Trotman (triple-jump) all finished third in their respective events.
