Coach Mark Richt had hot chocolate in lieu of his usual Powerade at his post-practice presser, and his red nose wasn't the only reminder that it was, well, cold and windy.
"Today it was cold and windy and it was very difficult for the guys to throw the ball accurately," Richt said. "But I think they did a pretty good job. It was cold and windy. I wore some long johns, and I layered up a little bit, and it didn't help."
The Bulldogs have just two practices left before their nationally-televised spring game, but Monday was a test, especially for the quarterbacks.
"It was fun, we did alright," said quarterback Logan Gray. "I felt like the alley of wind was right in our path, and the balls were not spinning all that great."
Gray, a redshirt sophomore from Columbia, Mo., was more at home than a lot of his counterparts.
"It felt like a spring day back in Missouri," he said.
Durham has 'decisions on his hand', Evans out with concussion: Senior wide receiver Kris Durham will miss the rest of the spring with a left shoulder injury, Richt said Monday.
Durham said the shoulder has been bothering him for the past two weeks or so, but he wasn't sure yet whether he would rehab it or opt for surgery.
"I've got a few decisions on my hand, I just have to talk to some people and see what happens," he said.
Durham and Michael Moore are the lone seniors of a young but talented receiving corps for the Bulldogs in 2009.
"I'm moving it alright, and it's not really hindering me much, so that's why it's a tough decision," Durham said. "I still have strength in it, I can move it."
Richt also said that senior Bryan Evans, who has been playing primarily at safety, endured a concussion in Saturday's scrimmage, but should be practicing again Wednesday.
Tailback numbers growing: Injured running backs Dontavius Jackson and Kalvin Daniels both made their spring debuts Monday, sporting green jerseys.
Meanwhile, Richt said junior Fred Munzenmaier, a fullback turned part-time tailback, may get a few carries at the latter on G-Day.
"That's really exciting," Munzenmaier said. "It makes me a little nervous, because usually for me it's just G-Day, you get to go out and have a little fun and there's a limited crowd there to watch. But apparently everyone's getting in free this year and it's on ESPN, so it's a little bit of pressure. But it's definitely exciting for me."
Munzenmaier carried the ball 11 times for 54 yards in the Bulldogs' scrimmage Saturday, with all but one carry coming as a tailback.
