It's not everyday that a murder occurs in the middle of dinner. But then, it's not everyday that cracking the murder could win you an iPod shuffle while providing relief for Vietnamese children.
The Vietnamese Student Association hosts a murder mystery skit, filled with multiple deaths, during a lavish dinner.
"There have been a lot of charity dinners, but we wanted to change things up," said Brian Le, a senior from Norcross and president of VSA. "We all contributed to the script for this dinner with a twist."
During dinner, guests are encouraged to closely observe conflicts and arguments between the characters. Eventually, the characters will die one-by-one, said Kelly Hoang, a senior from Augusta and historian for VSA.
Where: Memorial Hall ballroom
Price: $13 student advance/$15 regular advance; $18 student at door/$20 student at door More Information: To purchase tickets in advance (preferred), visit the Tate ticket booth, and for more details, e-mail vsa@uga.edu
The three-course meal will include a salad, bayou chicken pasta and a healthy yogurt from Yoforia, an Atlanta-based dessert store.
"The dinner also will provide cultural entertainment for guests," said Linda Nguyen, a junior from Savannah and secretary for VSA. "We'll have Vietnamese singers and a group of dancers for our guests."
At the end of the murderous dinner, all guests will submit their guesses for the suspect behind the murder. Afterward, names will be drawn for the prizes - an iPod shuffle as well as other gift certificates are at stake.
All proceeds from the dinner will go to the Catalyst Foundation, a non-profit organization providing educational programs for impoverished children in the poorest parts of Vietnam.
