The Georgia softball team (29-7, 10-5 SEC) looks to keep its perfect home record intact today when it welcomes Mississippi State (20-20, 2-13 SEC) in a doubleheader at the UGA Softball Stadium.
The No. 7 Bulldogs are 20-0 at home this season and are in second place in the SEC East behind the Florida.
Mississippi State has not enjoyed the same success, posting the worst conference record in the SEC.
Georgia's .806 winning percentage ranks second in the conference, and the Bulldogs have managed to go .500 (6-6) against top 25 teams.
The Bulldogs are winless this season (0-5) against the two SEC teams that are ranked above them in the latest top 25 poll - Florida (No. 1) and Alabama (No. 3).
Taylor Schlopy, Georgia's leadoff hitter, has been a successful table-setter all season for the Bulldogs - her .573 on-base percentage and 47 runs scored lead the team.
When Schlopy reaches base, sophomore Alisa Goler has been the one to bring her home.
Goler leads the team in home runs (13) and RBIs (58) - both ranking in the single-season top five in University history.
Hamilton has been a workhorse for Georgia all season, going 15-5 with a 1.43 ERA and 95 strikeouts over 112.2 innings.
All three of these players are key components in Georgia's formula for success and will be relied upon to carry the Bulldogs into postseason play.
The action gets started against Mississippi State this evening at 5 p.m. followed by the second game at 7 p.m.
