Editorial too critical of awareness movement

I was very disappointed with Thursday's "Our Take" editorial on TOMS' Day Without Shoes. It saddened me that the editorial board would feel the need to criticize a heartfelt movement for awareness and education.

Through participating, I became motivated to get involved in solutions. The ministry I am involved with on campus was motivated as well. We are talking to a preschool here in Athens that has 18 students, all of whom live at or below the poverty line.

With God's grace, we will buy shoes for all of them, knowing that we will be helping children both locally and globally, thanks to TOMS' One for One policy. Participating in a Day Without Shoes made us aware of this pressing problem in so many children's lives. I hope that in the future The R&B will put more thought into what it decides to write about events of this nature.
