That is one of the key reasons this 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward is interested in Georgia basketball.
"I think Georgia is a good school," Williams said. "You know, they are in the SEC, so they face good competition in a good conference."
Williams will be playing for Hoop Planet on the spring and summer AAU circuit, a team that boasts three of Georgia's finest prospects - Jelan Kendrick, Jamail Jones and Williams.
All three players are ranked in the top 125 in the nation for the class of 2010 by Rivals.com
And coaches nationwide have taken notice.
"I'm hearing from a lot of people," Williams said. "Right now, it's Xavier, South Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama - I don't want to forget anybody - SMU, Temple, Georgia State, and a couple other schools, but that's a good number of them right there."
Admittedly, Williams had little interest in Georgia with the prior coaching staff at the helm, but he is interested to hear the vision new head coach Mark Fox and his staff have for the program.
"I still want to know more about them and know what kind of system he's running and know more about his program," Williams said.
Georgia will have plenty of time to play catch-up, as Williams doesn't plan to narrow down his list and plan visits until after the July evaluation period - with a decision coming later in the year.
Williams will be looking for the system that he believes best fits his game.
"Probably a more open type, getting it up and down the floor, pushing it," Williams said. "None of the stop and slow it down because I just like to run and get up and down the floor."
Although he needs to add weight to bang with the big guys of Division 1 basketball, Williams makes up for his perceived lack of size with exceptional hops and timing for blocking shots.
"I'm a good shot blocker, and I got a good mid-range game," Williams said. "I can run the floor well, but I think probably my shot blocking and mid-range are my biggest assets."
