Six women's tennis players earn All-SEC

The Bulldogs got some more good news late Tuesday afternoon from the SEC offices in Birmingham, Ala., as they announced that six members of the 20-2 Bulldogs - the entire lineup - were awarded with All-SEC honors, with Chelsey Gullickson earning the distinction of freshman of the year in the SEC.
Named to the All-SEC first team were Gullickson, fellow freshman Nadja Gilchrist, and senior Monika Dancevic. Junior Yvette Hyndman, junior Naoko Ueshima and sophomore Cameron Ellis were each honored with all-SEC second team accolades.
"The whole starting lineup made all-SEC, three on the first team, three on the second team, and that's outstanding," Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace said. "They've had a great year and it's well deserved. We're really excited to see that happen."
For the first time in program history, two freshmen were named to the SEC All-Freshman team with Gilchrist and Gullickson earning those awards.
The 12th-ranked Gullickson, a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., has posted an impressive 20 wins over nationally-ranked opponents en route to a 31-9 record in her first year with the Bulldogs.
Gullickson became the third Georgia women's tennis player to be named SEC freshman of the year in the program's history. Hyndman was the last Georgia player to win the award in 2007, and Lori Grey won the honor in 2000.
Dancevic and Hyndman were no strangers to the all-conference team roster. Dancevic was named to her third straight first team while Hyndman was named to the first team in each of the past two years.
Dancevic also was named SEC tennis player of the week Monday. Though Wallace was thrilled with the achievements, he stressed the importance of continuing the strong play with the SEC Tournament beginning this week.
"It's a great honor that they all made [All-SEC], but now it's about going and doing more good things for the team," Wallace said.
