The Georgia softball record books have officially been rewritten.

In front of 1,522 fans at the UGA Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon, sophomore third baseman Alisa Goler hit her way into Bulldog history and capped off her incredible 2009 season with one swing.

After tying the individual single-season marks in home runs, RBIs and extra-base hits last Wednesday, Goler wasted no time in claiming all three records for herself on Saturday afternoon against Tennessee. She did so in impressive fashion by hitting two home runs in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Volunteers.

"It was kind of a weight off my shoulders, I guess," Goler said, "I'd like to say that I wasn't thinking about it when I was in the box, but it was kind of there in the back of my mind."

In similar fashion to how she tied the records, Goler was able to break all three on one swing when she knocked her 17th home run of the season on the first pitch she saw from Tennessee starter Ashton Ward. As soon as the ball landed over the left center field fence, Goler moved past Megan McAllister for the single-season extra base hit and home run records, and took Kim Wendland's record for total RBIs in a season. Goler finished the weekend with three home runs, three RBIs, and three extra-base hits. She now holds the single-season records with 19 home runs, 68 RBIs, and 35 extra base hits. With her name cemented in the Georgia softball record books, Goler can turn her attention to breaking some prestigious conference records as well - the SEC single-season record for home runs (25) and RBIs (79).

"Obviously, the more games we play, the bigger the possibility I could get [the SEC records]," Goler said. "We'll just have to see."

Goler leads the SEC this season in doubles, slugging percentage, RBIs, home runs and total bases.

After hitting just two home runs as a freshman, Goler's production at the plate this season has come as somewhat of a surprise.

Although, don't tell that to head coach Lu Harris-Champer.

"Goler has just had an outstanding season, and she is just such an outstanding young lady on the field and off of it," Harris-Champer said, "She has been very blessed as a hitter, and I am proud to say she is a Georgia Bulldog."
