Monday's Red & Black the best issue in eight years

Out of all the news sources I read covering the Town & Gown homicides, your Monday issue stood at the top. As someone with no personal connection to the suspect, the victims or the children, you did a great job telling their story without being sensational.

Also, your choice to cover the Twilight Criterium as a photo essay on the last page was wise and appropriate.

You gave us the best R&B issue I have seen in my eight years at the University. It could not have come at a better time.

Shooting coverage 'by far the best'

Your comprehensive coverage of the murders allegedly committed by professor George Zinkhan has been professional, concise and by far the best in the region and state. You have far outdone The Athens Banner-Herald and local radio coverage of this event. I seriously would nominate your newspaper for a Pulitzer Prize based on your reportage of this tragic event.

I completely agree. R & B makes its mistakes on the routine stories sometimes, but really rises to the occasion for important news stories. Last year's investigation on the sexual harassment cases was top-notch, but you have outdone yourselves covering this heartbreaking and important story. (Continued…)
