Police spent the weekend monitoring Atlanta's airport to see if University professor George Zinkhan would make good on his ticket to Amsterdam, but officials confirmed Monday Zinkhan's passport was found in the 2005 Jeep Liberty discovered in a Athens-Clarke County ravine Friday.

On Friday his Jeep was found in a wooded area two miles from his home, spurring a daylong search for the Terry College professor on the 1,100 acre tract in the northwestern part of the county. Zinkhan is accused of killing three people April 25.

Monday, Capt. Clarence Holeman of the ACC police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution his passport was among the things found in the Jeep.

"That's a fact, it was in the car," Holeman told the AJC. "He can't leave the country."

The FBI revealed last week in U.S. District Court that Zinkhan had a ticket for a Delta Air Lines flight Saturday to Amsterdam. He also has a home in the Netherlands, where he has taught part-time at a university since April 2006.

The Jeep found Friday was in drive, as if someone pushed it over, said Holeman. There was no blood or weapons found, and it looked as if it was there for some time.

He could leave the country if he has shaved, dyed his hair, etc. (Continued…)

His decision to leave the passport in the jeep is weird. Why even bring it with you if you're just going to dump it in the jeep that you abandoned in a ravine? Maybe he is not going to kill himself - he's getting rid of anything that can identify him. (Continued…)

The guy's wife was the head of a community theatre. He likely had access to tons and tons and tons of different disguises and likely looks completely different than the pictures the media is showing. (Continued…)

By this time it should be very obvious, this is the work of a professional. The professor has cleared his life line and is ready to reestablish his life else where. (Continued…)

Wow...he wasn't anywhere near the car he ditched, didn't catch the plane he had bought a ticket for, and isn't using his passport...what a surprise! Who would have thought a college professor could possibly be smart enough to avoid these easy methods of being caught?

Also, the idea that he is definitely in the country is laughable at best. (Continued…)

All I have to say is that I'm glad the FBI is getting in on this b/c clearly the ACCPD is not intelligent enough to handle it.
It seems to me that this was definitely well thought out and planned. (Continued…)

Holeman lamented that they had not recovered Zinkhan's driver's license nor his shoes; therefore, he still has the capability of driving and/or walking. (Continued…)

I don't see what possible use a passport that identifies him as a triple murderer would be, and how the fact that he left it behind makes it less likely he's left the country. (Continued…)
