The University Police Department held two vehicle checkpoints in the last 24 hours, netting three arrests as it set up at various spots in campus.

The initial checkpoint, a driver and vehicle safety check, was on Riverbend Road between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, and netted one arrest for driving with a suspended license. The other, a driver sobriety check, occurred on East Campus Road and Cedar Street between 12:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday and accounted for two arrests of DUI alcohol.

UGA police hold checkpoints at various times of the year, ensuring drivers are updated with licenses, registrations, insurance as well as not driving impaired. UGA last held a checkpoint on St. Patrick's Day as part of a countywide check, which yielded dozens of arrests.
