Softball's Schlopy named to All-District team

Georgia's Taylor Schlopy was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team for softball as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.

Schlopy, a sophomore outfielder from West Hills, Calif., is majoring in Child and Family Development and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.39. Schlopy was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 3 Second Team, and she is the first all-district honoree for the Bulldogs since 2007.

Schlopy, an All-Southeastern Conference First Team selection, is currently batting .425 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI entering the SEC Tournament, and she ranks first nationally in runs scored per game at 1.33. On the base paths, Schlopy has stolen 18 bases in 19 attempts. She was recently named the SEC Player of the Week on May 4 following her performance at Arkansas in which she reached based in all eight plate appearances. As a leadoff batter in any inning this season, Schlopy is batting .565, slugging 1.196 and has an on-base percentage of .710.
