After two days and three events scored, the No. 20 Georgia men's track and field holds the top spot in the early goings at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The men's squad has accumulated 28 total points to hold first place, coming ten points ahead of second-place Auburn.

The majority of the Bulldog points came in large part due to the dominant Georgia hammer throwers, who combined to take 20 points in the single event.

Branislav Danis, a junior from Bratislava, Slovakia, took second place in the event with a personal best throw of 215 feet and 11 inches. Danis was followed by Georgia's Nate Rolfe (3rd), John Freeman (4th) and David Scheidt (8th) as the Bulldogs placed four of the top eight in the event.

Junior Tommy Barrineau was another top scorer for the Bulldog men, as he placed third in the decathlon to score six more points for Georgia. Barrineau compiled 6,987 points in the decathlon, improving on his fourth place finish in the 2008 SEC Outdoor Championships.

The Bulldog women have not experienced such success as they currently hold on to a tie with South Carolina for 10th place after three events. The Georgia women failed to score a point until the final event of the day - junior Bridget Lyons took seventh in the 10,000-meter run.

Day 3 of the four-day conference championship will kick off at 12 p.m. with the men's javelin throw.
