The Arkansas men have taken the points lead at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, with the No. 20 Georgia men trailing a close second place.
The Bulldog men have accumulated 52 points through nine events scored, trailing the Razorback men by a single point.
The Bulldog women have improved to a tie for the No. 8 spot (eight points) through six events - they completed Day 2 in a tie for 10th place.
Junior javelin thrower Chris Hill got Georgia men off on the right foot by taking home the SEC javelin crown - becoming the ninth SEC javelin champion in Georgia history. Hill's throw of 261 feet and 4 inches broke the SEC Championship record set in 2004 by Tennessee's Leigh Smith (157 feet, 10 inches).
Hill's throw was nearly 40 feet farther than the second-place finisher, as the Bulldog's defending NCAA champion beat out LSU's Anthony Martel (121 feet, 7 inches).
Senior Kevin Dickson had a big day for the Bulldog men, scoring in two events including six points for his 3rd place finish in the high jump (6 feet, 10.75 inches). Dickson also scored for the men in the long jump, coming in sixth place with a career-best jump of 24 feet, 8.5 inches.
The top scorer on the women side was Josipa Jelicic with her effort in the discus throw, notching a career-best throw of 165 feet, 11 inches to take 4th place in the event. The senior from Croatia has scored the past three year's at the conference championships, coming in 3rd place in 2008 after a 6th place finish in 2007.
Other Georgia scorers included Ilana McQuinn in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Geno Atkins in the men's shot put, and Adam Sarafian in the men's pole vault.
The SEC Championships conclude on Sunday 27 different events.
