U.S. Representative Paul Broun on Monday celebrated the passage of legislation commending the Georgia gymnastics team for winning the 2009 NCAA National Championship.

The resolution recognized the Gym Dogs won more national championships than any other collegiate gymnastics program and congratulated head coach Suzanne Yoculan for her years at the helm.

"A new level of athletic excellence has now been set by UGA's gymnastics program," Broun wrote in a statement. "For five consecutive years, this team has earned a championship crown - giving the University of Georgia the most successful women's gymnastics program in collegiate history and making Suzanne Yoculan the sport's most successful coach.

"The UGA women's gymnastics team certainly deserves our congratulations for its hard work in winning a championship, but they should also be recognized for their outstanding academic achievements; they posted a collective 3.36 GPA.
