A U.S. District Court judge denied a motion for contempt and miscellaneous relief brought by a University professor against University President Michael Adams and the Board of Regents, but has ordered the two parties to submit the case to mediation.

After a 40-minute telephone conference Tuesday, Judge C. Christopher Hagy ordered the mediation in the lawsuit between John Soloski, a professor and former dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications, and Adams and the BOR. Hagy has yet to determine the date of the mediation.

Soloski sought a motion for contempt and mandatory publication last week against UGA in an ongoing lawsuit he filed in 2006 in order to clear his name of sexual harassment charges.

In 2005, the Office of Legal Affairs investigated claims filed by Janet Jones Kendall, a former Grady College employee, against Soloski which claimed he commented on her "assets," according to documents. Soloski was found in violation of the Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy in June 2005. He resigned as dean and now teaches class.

In March 2009 the U.S. District Court ordered the University clear Soloski's name of the sexual harassment charges.

Good for you for pursuing this -- they killed your rep and they should pay for it. Hope you prevail.

He already prevailed - hence the judicial order for UGA to clear Soloski.
