OWINGS MILL, Md. -- Marta Silva Zamora's even-par 72 in Wednesday's second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships pushed her into the top-10 golfers on the individual leaderboard and also keyed Georgia's ascent three spots in the team field.

"We played better today, but I still think we've got more in us," head coach Kelley Hester said.

Silva Zamora is among a quartet of golfers tied for ninth at 3-over 147 at the tournament's midway point. The Bulldogs shot 307 on the Caves Valley Golf Club layout, nine shots better than their first-round tally, and are at 623, tied with Chattanooga for 18th.

"Marta played a very good round of golf, but I think if you asked her she would tell you it very easily could have been better," Hester said.

Silva Zamora birdied No. 1 and No. 3 to quickly move to 2-under but gave those strokes back with bogeys at No. 6 and No. 9. After a bogey at No. 11, she moved back to even with a birdie-2 at No. 15 that was inches from an ace.

The Bulldogs also counted a 76 from Mallory Hetzel, a 79 from Carolina Andrade and an 80 from Leigh Crosby. Tess Fordham shot 88.

"Mal fought it," Hester said. "A 76 on this course is a very solid round. Carolina and Leigh both struggled some but they kept it together."

Overall, Hetzel is tied for 48th , Andrade is tied for 101st, Crosby is tied for 120th and Fordham is 123rd.

Maria Jose Uribe of UCLA blistered the course with a 6-under 66 to move atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under 141. She has a two-shot lead over Wake Forest's Nannette Hill, Pepperdine's Lisa McCloskey and Denver's Stephanie Sherlock.

The Bruins also lead the team competition at 589, seven shots better than Southern Cal.

Georgia will be paired with New Mexico and Texas for Thursday's third round, teeing off from No. 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Hole-by-hole scoring for the tournament can be found at www.golfstat.com.
