For more than three dozen people, the start of the long Memorial Day weekend is one they would just as soon forget.

The Georgia State Patrol arrested 38 people, including six University students, at various checkpoints around Athens Thursday night and into Friday morning. The DUI crackdown accounted for 57 criminal charges, most for DUI but there was one man arrested on a felony drug charge.

The GSP, joined by ACC and UGA police, conducted similar DUI checkpoints on St. Patrick's Day, yielding 63 arrests, more than 250 criminal charges and backlogged the Athens-Clarke County Courthouse for almost two days. UGA police conducted traffic checkpoints on Cinco de Mayo, recording five DUI arrests.

Hahaha, love to see them arrest these dangerous idiots. Plenty of cabs in Athens. Will they ever learn?
