Track & Field captures two East Region titles

Junior Chris Hill and senior Kevin Dickson brought home two individual titles on Day 1 of the NCAA East Regional meet in Greensboro, N.C.
Hill, the defending NCAA javelin champion, obliterated the East Regional record by nearly 13 feet with his throw of 263 feet, 7 inches. The All-American out-distanced Brown's Craig Kinsley by over 22 feet and will now have a chance to defend his national title in Fayetteville, Arka.
Dickson was the surprise of the meet for the Bulldogs, as he entered the East Regional with the 16th-best mark in the long jump this season.
The senior came through with a personal-best jump (24 feet, 9 inches) to win in the long jump over Cornell's Duane Teixeira - earning the right to advance to the NCAA championships.
The Georgia men's squad scored 59 total points in the meet to come in third place as a team, while women placed tied for 31st.
Georgia would go on to qualify nine more members of their squad qualify for the NCAA Championships on Day 2 of the East Regional. Competitors are required to place in the top-five of their Regional event to qualify for the national meet.
Throwers Nate Rolfe and John Freeman both qualified in the hammer throw by placing in the top-five - Rolfe placed second while Freeman finished fifth.
Other NCAA qualifiers: Justin Gaymon finished second in the 400-meter hurdles, Michelle Thompson finished third in the women's javelin, Israel Machovec took third in the men's discus, Adam Sarafian placed fourth in the men's pole vault, and the men's 4x400-meter relay placed fifth to also send Michael Proctor, Baron Brown, and Torrin Lawrence.
The NCAA Championships are set to take place June 10-13 at the University of Arkansas.
