Former Bulldog golfers in women's pro action

Six former Georgia women's golfers took part in tournaments on the LPGA and Duramed Futures Tours last weekend.

Taylor Leon and Reilley Rankin participated in the LPGA State Farm Classic held in Springfield, Ill. The tournament kicked off on Thursday, June 4, and ended on Sunday, June 7, and was contested at Springfield's Panther Creek Country Club.

Leon took 46th place overall, tying with six others. She shot a 69 in her first two rounds, followed by a 72-73 in the third and final rounds. Leon finished at 283, winning her a total of $6,225.

Rankin did not experience such luck, shooting 73 and 74 in her first two rounds. This resulted in Rankin missing the cut for rounds three and four. Rankin shot a total of 147.

The Duramed Future's Tour event was the Ladies Titan Tire Challenge at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa. The event took place from Friday, June 5, to Sunday, June 7. The tournament was held to benefit the Junior golf League of Cedar Rapids.

Garrett Phillips, Whitney Wade, Mallory Hetzel, and Kelly Froelich all participated.

Phillips had a strong first round, shooting a 68 and tying two others for second. Both Hetzel and Froelich were tied 16th with scores of 71, while Wade was tied 28th with a 72.

In the second round, Phillips held her own at second place with a 72. Wade slipped to 30th after shooting a 74. Both Hetzel and Froelich missed the 36-hole cut after the second round.

Phillips slipped a few spots in the final round, but still finished strong, landing her a spot in sixth place with a final score of 212. Her winnings were $3,493. Wade displayed a strong finish in the final round, leaving her 17th overall with a final score of 216. Her final winnings were $1,045.
