Seven former Georgia Lady Bulldogs are included on the opening day rosters for the 2009 WNBA season, which begins on Saturday. Georgia once again has the third-most active players in the league.

Former Lady Bulldogs who earned spots on the 11-player rosters for the league's 13 WNBA teams include Coco Miller for the Atlanta Dream; Kiesha Brown for the Connecticut Sun; Kara Braxton and Deanna Nolan for the Detroit Shock; Kelly Miller and Christi Thomas for the Minnesota Lynx; and Tasha Humphrey for the Washington Mystics.

Brown earned a spot on her sixth different WNBA team, one franchise shy of the league record. She was released by the Washington Mystics on Monday but picked up by Connecticut on Wednesday. She will return to D.C. on Saturday for the season opener.

There are 13 Tennessee players in action and nine Connecticut standouts in the league. Other top schools for supplying WNBA talent include LSU and Rutgers with six; North Carolina with five; and Duke and Maryland with four.

The Southeastern Conference again far and away leads all other leagues with WNBA players. All told, 36 SEC players from 10 schools are on opening day rosters. The Big East was a distant second with 21 players, followed by the ACC with 19, the Big Ten with 11 and the Big 12 with nine.
