CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Georgia sophomore All-American Taylor Schlopy will compete for a spot on the 2009 USA Softball Women's National Team this week at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

The Amateur Softball Association's final list of attendees to the 2009 USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Camp, which begins today and runs through June 12, includes 41 athletes who will be vying for a spot on one of two teams. The two teams, which include the USA Softball Women's National Team and the USA Softball Women's Elite Team, will compete this summer at four events including the KFC World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City. Both team's rosters will be announced June 15.

The USA Softball Women's National team will represent the U.S. at the Canada Cup (July 4-12) and the World Cup (July 16-20). The rosters for the Japan Cup (July 31- Aug. 2) and the Pan American Qualifier (July 31- Aug. 9) will be a combination of athletes from the Women's National team and the Elite team.

Schlopy, a native of West Hills, Calif., helped Georgia to its first-ever Women's College World Series in 2009 by leading the team in runs scored (71), walks (38), hit-by-pitch (14) and stolen bases (21-of-22). She also posted Georgia's second highest single-season totals for slugging percentage (.819) and on-base percentage (.550). Schlopy's Southeastern Conference leading 71 runs scored this season ranks tied third-best in school history while her 47 runs-batted in were the league's 10th-best total in 2009. Her batting average of .406 checks in as the eighth-best single-season mark in school history and was fifth-best among the SEC this year. In the role of leader hitter, Schlopy batted .526, slugged 1.105 and reached base at a .686 clip.
