A recent University graduate faces a DUI charge after a night of downtown drinking resulted in a fiery car crash Sunday night, according to Athens-Clarke County police.

Stacy Paige Cason, 22, lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe while driving on South Church Street. According to the police report, she hit two parked cars, went over a wall and ran into a power pole which ignited her vehicle. Cason, who graduated in May, was not injured in the crash. She was also charged with failure to obey a stop sign and improper driving.

From the report:

"I could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath," the arresting officer wrote. Cason consented to field sobriety tests. After arriving at the Athens-Clarke County Eastside precinct, a breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of .216, nearly three times the legal limit

Cason told the officer she had been eating and drinking at the Last Resort Grill with a friend.

Cason told the officer she had "one or two glasses of wine." Her friend, a passenger in the car, told the officer both of them had three glasses of wine.

I wonder why she is smiling for the mug shot. She will not be smiling when the judge throws the book at her. Perhaps her daddy will come and save her. (Continued…)

Wasn't Cason a member of this upstanding sorority?

Look at her, smirking and smiling like almost killing several people and burning down an entire historic neighborhood is a big joke! Drunk ass bitch - give her the maximum, clearly she needs to learn a lesson and do some HARD TIME. (Continued…)

Um, I don't think she has been convicted of a crime, and even if she were to have had 3 glasses of wine, there is a good possibility that she was below the legal limit to drive if the dinner had been longer than 1 hour. (Continued…)

She is extremely fortunate. If she had killed or seriously injured someone she could be facing years in prison ........... unless her daddy was "wired" really good . (Continued…)

I thought everyone knew that if you get pulled on suspicion of DUI, you DO NOT TAKE A BREATHALIZER! So stupid. But yeah, she's gonna have a hard time getting hired anywhere and will likely have to spend a few days in the clink. (Continued…)

Strether, I think you missed something, like her 0.21 BA level, almost enough to put her into a coma. What a way to start her adult life; fortunately she will HAVE an adult life but obviously her tenure at UGA didn't teach her not to attempt to drive while drunk. (Continued…)

So what if she was in a sorority? Think about how many people get DUI's that are NOT in sororities?? It's just ridiculous that you would bring that up. (Continued…)

Teddy:

It's a gamble. If you don't take the test you lose your license automatically.

I'm surprised the ACLU over the years (although they tried) didn't get that thrown out as "self-incrimination" but sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug. (Continued…)
