Georgia junior first baseman Rich Poythress added to his list of 2009 honors by being named Baseball America First Team All-America and to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region First Team.

Poythress has already been named Louisville Slugger All-America, Rivals.com All-America, NCBWA All-America, NCBWA District IV Player of the Year and First Team All-SEC. He was also a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy.

A native of Grovetown, Ga., Poythress was the Bulldogs' triple crown winner in 2009 with a .376 average, 25 home runs and a single season school record 86 RBI. He is fifth on Georgia's career home runs list with 43 and second on the career RBI list with 185. Poythress led Georgia to a 38-24 record in 2009 and the program's first No. 1 ranking in the regular season.

Poythress, who was Baseball America's Midseason Player of the Year, was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the second round of the MLB draft last week.

Georgia has had four Baseball America All-Americans in the last four years including Josh Fields (2006, 2008), Joey Side (2006), Gordon Beckham (2008) and Poythress.
