Bulldogs place 18th in Directors' Cup

Spearheaded by a gymnastics national championship and several top-10 team finishes, Georgia finished 18th in the 2008-09 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup competition which annually measures the nation's most successful athletics programs.
Georgia finished 10th last year.
The Directors' Cup is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, Learfield Sports and USA Today to the best overall collegiate athletics programs in the country in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and the NAIA.
Georgia's national title in gymnastics was complemented by high national finishes in women's swimming and diving (second), women's tennis (third), men's golf (third), softball (fourth), men's tennis (sixth), football (10th), men's outdoor track and field (11th), men's swimming and diving
(12th), and women's golf (15th).
Georgia also won a national title in equestrian, a sport that is not yet included in the Directors' Cup competition.
In the last 10 years, Georgia has finished among the nation's top 12 on nine occasions and among the nation's top 10 seven times.
