Before I started studying for my Organic Chemistry test, I needed to respond to Khalil Farah's column on Thursday.
Khalil, do you know what makes me sad? This country makes me sad to an extent. I am critical of some of our "unique" views on helping our own.
Many Americans would loathe a small percent increase in taxes for expanded health care services.
This small increase could save thousands of lives a month. This increase could fund preventive care initiatives that could prevent any need for hospitalization and promote healthy lifestyles in an unhealthy country.
We are 37th in health care services worldwide and we spend more money on health care and pay back more health care debt than any nation in the world. We are one of the richest nations, but we lack something critical in order to be the greatest nation.
We lack universal unity and respect in the face of normalcy.
I think some Americans are fearful of stepping out of some crucial comfort zones. They stay in the confines of mental mediocrity and they graciously welcome ignorance for the sake of comfort. They fear to recognize someone as a human before any other title.
We truly need to criticize ourselves and what we believe on a constant basis. We need to understand what we believe and how what we believe has affected us or others.
Until we take the time and initiative to truly examine ourselves and understand each other, we will always be sub-par our potential.
