Bulldogs' Harman named All-America Scholar

Georgia golfer Brian Harman was among the 108 players named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars this week by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Harman, a Savannah native who completed his eligibility in May, was honored for the second straight year. Georgia now has produced 10 student-athletes with 17 All-America Scholar certificates. Georgia has had at least one honoree for each of the past six years and has produced six student-athletes with 10 citations under Coach Chris Haack.
Harman led Georgia and was second in the Southeastern Conference with a scoring average of 71.94 in 2008-09. He recently won the prestigious Dogwood Invitational amateur event. Harman was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III At-Large Second Team and was selected for the SEC Academic Honor Roll with a 3.6 GPA in Finance. He was a Presidential Scholar and won the Howell Hollis Award as the Bulldog with the highest GPA.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championship, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. Recipients must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
