Equestrian tryouts set for August
Issue date: 7/10/09 Section: Sports
Tryouts for the final spots on the 2009-10 UGA Equestrian team roster will be held August 19-20 at the Georgia Equestrian Center in Bishop, Ga., according to an announcement Thursday by head coach Meghan Boenig.
Anyone wishing to participate in the tryouts must also attend an Aug. 18 informational meeting in the Conference Room on the bottom floor of Stegeman Coliseum. That meeting has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
"We've been very fortunate with our walk-on program over the years," Boenig said. "The young ladies that have joined our team through the tryouts have enjoyed great success, both academically and athletically. We certainly hope our track record continues with this year's group."
Requirements for any student to try out are as follows:
*Full-time female UGA student with experience in Equestrian
*Proof of a medical physical exam within the past year, signed by a doctor
*Health Insurance card
*Class Schedule
The completion of a recruiting questionnaire from Georgiadogs.com prior to the tryout dates is also highly recommended.
Additional questions about the tryouts can be answered by calling the Equestrian office at 542-5817, or by e-mailing Assistant Coach Logan Fiorentino at loganf@sports.uga.edu
