Woe be you, coach

Football coach Mark Richt needs a change to right program's sinking ship

As if this football season wasn't bad enough.

Georgia is wallowing in mediocrity.

Tim Tebow officially broke Herschel Walker's SEC rushing touchdown record, even though Walker should have 54 touchdowns to Tebow's 51.

Heck, even Georgia Tech is No. 10. We thought it was awfully cold down there in Lucifer's lair.

And after another thrashing in Jacksonville, Fla., to the hands of the Gators, it is time to re-evaluate the direction of the football program.

To head coach Mark Richt:

1) Fire Willie Martinez. Last year, the defense was dismal due to injuries and lack of tackling in practice. This year, it is just plain awful. Four games of allowing more than 37 points, three games of more than 40. Florida beat the defense with the same misdirection game plan Tennessee ran en route to a 45-point day. No self-respecting defense coordinator should allow that to happen.

Not to mention the defense has only forced six turnovers this season. That's disgraceful.

Loyalty gets you nothing, wins do.

2) Teach your team some discipline. Last year, Georgia was third in the nation in penalties. This year, it is tied for 118 out of 120. Yikes. Every game, the Dogs commit stupid personal fouls to give the opponent more yards or to end a Georgia drive.

Coach, this program deserves better, and we hate to say it, but if you can't bring a title, athletic director Damon Evans needs to find someone who can.
