Results of Halloween football game truly terrifying
Nice trick-or-treat costumes. Perhaps you thought changing your uniforms would make you the better football players you hoped to be. Next time, instead of spending time deciding what you are going to prance out of the tunnel in, you take that time to practice. You sure could use it.

Sustainability efforts hard but worth it
Monday's Red and Black contained a wonderful and balanced article on organic produce. There are just a couple of follow-ups:
1) The article said that "organic standards do not allow synthetic or man-made pesticides," which is not quite accurate. Synthetic pesticides and mulches are allowed when there is no natural alternative. The USDA maintains a national list of approved non-organic pesticides that may be used on organics.
2) Secondly, while conventional agriculture has been guilty of environmental damage as charged, it has come a long way in mending its ways, greatly reducing soil erosion, water use, and fertilizer use through such techniques as no-till planting, precision agriculture, and the development of varieties that resist pests without having to apply pesticides.
In the end, we are all striving for 'sustainable' agriculture. Sustainable agriculture will include a mix of conventional and organic methods, depending on the crop and location.

Tebow doesn't measure up to Herschel Walker
Didn't Herschel Walker leave early for the NFL after his Junior year? If that is the case he scored his touchdowns in three years verses Tim Tebow accomplishing it in four.
