When and how do I sign up for Returning Resident Room Sign-Up?
You will get an e-mail in December to indicate your interest for room sign-up for the 2010-2011 school year. The sign up period starts Dec. 1 and ends Jan. 24.
When will I be notified if I'm selected to participate?
On Jan. 25 and 26 University Housing will notify every student of their housing status.
What is the selection process for Returning Resident Room Sign-Up?
The selection process is very complicated and has four phases. The first phase is the actual request to participate in Returning Resident Room Sign-Up. Phase two is the selection of students to participate, which is narrowed down by certain factors such as year in school and terms lived on campus, and a non-refundable fee prepayment of $75 to reside in the room selected.
Phase three involves selection of the room and final prepayment fee of $200. Phase four allows waitlisted students to move up along the list an participate in the process.
What factors are considered in the selection process?
The number of credit hours taken at the University on the Athens campus. Off all people to choose space, the number of terms lived on campus comes into play. The fact that some students have lived on campus longer is beneficial to students.
What gives me a better chance of participating?
The fact that some students have lived on campus longer is beneficial to them.
What if I'm an off-campus student wanting live back on-campus?
If current off-campus students want to reside on campus, they need to pay a $35 registration fee. We start collecting it the first day of classes, Jan. 7.
What if I plan on studying abroad?
If students who are studying abroad wish to live on campus, in the spring, our offices use their housing status of the immediate term prior to studying abroad.
What if I'm not selected to participate in Returning Resident Room Sign-Up?
Students not initially selected to participate in the sign-up process, will be placed on the waiting list.
We process students on waiting list every week because students will cancel, change their mind or not make payment. Students can view their wait list status online and see the change as they move up along the rankings every week.
Will the new residence hall at East Campus be included for selection in the room sign-up process?
The new residence hall at East Campus Village will be a part of the dorm selection process in February and will follow the same rules as all other space assignments.
In January, we hope to have a mock room in the Brumby Rotunda so that students can come see what a typical room in that hall would look like.
Where do I find more information?
More information will be posted on the Housing Web site Dec. 1. In January, there will be information sessions in undergraduate residence halls about the process. For more information, visit www.uga.edu/housing/rrrsu.
