A University student lost control of his vehicle, launching his car off the road where he sat injured for more than an hour before he was transported to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital Monday.
Peyton Marsh, 22, said after losing control, he tried to correct his vehicle, overcompensated and "flew about 15 feet in the air and hit a couple trees."
Marsh said he was not sure how long he sat injured in his vehicle, but it felt like anywhere between one and two hours.
"It was pretty scary," he said. "I was freaking out."
Marsh said he's lucky he avoided any broken bones, sustaining only a few internal bruises. Marsh is still in intensive care, but hospital officials said his condition was fair Wednesday evening.
"I'm 100 percent better than I was yesterday," Marsh said.
Marsh said he hasn't worried about how the injury will affect his classes.
"Everyone seems to be understanding about it," he said.
The crash backed up traffic on U.S. Highway 78 for over two hours while EMS crews cut him out of his vehicle, according to a report by the Athens Banner-Herald.
Marsh will now face charges, including failure to maintain lane.
