UGA Police plan safety checkpoints after homecoming game

The University Police announced Friday it will be setting up safety checkpoints in Athens on Saturday after the homecoming game against Tennesee Tech.
University Police will be working with Athens-Clarke County Police to ensure drivers are obeying all ACC laws. This will be the second announced safety checkpoint of the semester. The previous checkpoint was in mid-September.
The time and location of the checkpoints have yet to be disclosed.
There have been many checkpoints set up throughout the year. Checkpoints on St. Patrick's Day resulted in 63 arrests out of 700 cars stopped - 19 of the people arrested were University students or faculty.
Vehicle safety and sobriety checkpoints held on May 5 at River Road and on East Campus and Cedar Streets yielded three DUI arrests, and one was set up by ACC police just before the July 4 holiday as well.
