Ladies, get your black dresses and pearls ready to pay tribute to the designer that brought simplicity, comfort and relaxed fits to fashion.

Wednesday night at Ciné, fashion magazine Blvd. and award-winning student-run public relations firm Creative Consultants present Coco After Dark, an event to celebrate Coco Chanel, one of fashion's most classic icons.

To celebrate the premier night of the movie "Coco Before Chanel," there will be French-inspired food, drink specials, live music and trivia before and after the movie screening.

"I think the community deserves fun, classic events like this, and it really gives them a chance to show off their stylish side," said Kristen Rachels, executive director of Blvd. Magazine and planner of the event. "When I got wind of this film coming here, I wanted to do a huge, fun event around it for our fashionable community, and thus, through brainstorming, 'Coco After Dark' emerged as a fun cocktail party before the film. We really wanted to make it a fun and glamorous evening."

The movie, starring Audrey Tatou of "Amelie" fame, describes the life of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel before she became the iconic fashion designer. It follows her early life in an orphanage and profiles the events and struggles that led Chanel into being the most influential fashion designer of the 20th century.

"Everybody knows what Chanel is, but nobody knows about her, and why she became famous, and why she decided [fashion was] what she wanted to do," said Maggie Garrell, a member of the Creative Consultants team planning the event. "I think people will learn from the movie and not just think it's entertaining."
